The mood is very similar to Lost in Translation, but given that the latter’s one of my favourite films, that may not be a bad thing. Elle Fanning looks positively delightful here.
Ah, Norwegian Wood. I’m secretly glad that it’s a Japanese production and not some Hollywood version. Not sure how Murakami’s writing style will be translated into film.
Kazuo Ishiguro is possibly my favourite author, yet Never Let Me Go is one of his works that I haven’t read. Carey Mulligan displays charming sensitivity in her acting. She has that rare combination of youthful wonder and vulnerability that draws you in and a quiet maturity that’s believable.
